Annoyingly Good: Why Choosing National Tiles Is the Smartest Decision You'll Make
You know the type. So consistently good at what they do that it's almost irritating. Except they’re so likeable and so themselves it’s only slightly annoying when they excel. Again.
Frank Walker started building this kind of business in 1979. From 1 September 2026, it has a name.
National Tiles is officially Annoyingly Good.
Because we're so consistently excellent at helping Australians create beautiful spaces on real budgets. The advice is more helpful than you expected. The range is wider. The result looks like it cost more than it did. And the price – well. That's your business. But you’ll probably tell people anyway.
The Name. The Idea. The Promise.
Annoyingly Good is a very specific feeling. It's also, if you think about it, a bit of an unusual thing to call yourself. Brands don't usually lead with their own irritating qualities. We are, because the name is honest.
It’s champagne tiles on a beer budget. A bathroom so good you need to buy the fancy soap. Floors that make someone across the fence start Googling.
That's the promise behind the tagline, and it sits on three key ideas. Choosing National Tiles should deliver better value, a better experience, and a better outcome than you expected.
Frank Walker founded National Tiles in 1979 with a simple goal: bring quality tiles and genuine value to Australian homes. What started as a single store is now 40+ locations across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and regional communities throughout Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania.

Frank's Still Here. He's Just Interrupting Other Ads Now.
If you've spent any time listening to Australian radio over the past few decades, you know Frank Walker. He is the National Tiles ad. The voice, the energy. Unmistakable.
The new brand keeps Frank exactly where Australians expect him, front and centre!
In the launch films, familiar advertising worlds begin playing out—a polished retirement advertisement, a beer-with-mates moment—before Frank breaks in to reveal National Tiles products that look far more impressive than their price suggests. In one, he interrupts the retirement ad to point out the flooring: "Your friends will think you paid an interior designer." In another, he crashes the beer commercial to showcase natural stone that looks expensive (but isn't).
The campaign uses something Australians already know and love about National Tiles; Frank is always there. Historically, Frank has been the ad. Now Frank interrupts the ad. Some things are too good not to share.
The Annoyingly Good brand launches across television and video, radio, outdoor, digital, social media and in-store from 1 September 2026 – everywhere National Tiles shows up, frankly.
What Annoyingly Good Actually Delivers
The value that makes you want to brag a little
Good taste shouldn't cost a fortune. That's the founding logic of a business Frank Walker built from the ground up, and it's as true today as it was in 1979.
The National Tiles range covers everything from tiles and natural stone to timber-look flooring across every style and every budget. The look you want is almost always achievable for less than you think. Order a $9.95 sample to see it in your own space first. Then decide.
Better value is more than the price on the tag. It's about finishing your project and feeling like you won.
The experience that makes complicated feel simple
Renovation decisions are hard. The range is enormous, the stakes feel high and the wrong choice stares at you for years. At National Tiles, we make that easier for you.
Design Pro consultations bring expert advice directly to your project. Bring your moodboard, a vague idea, or nothing but a budget and we’ll help you from there. The Digital Showroom visualiser lets you see how products will look in your space before you commit. The area calculator means no more guessing games about quantities or cost.
Bring the problem. We'll help you find the answer.
The outcome people notice
The proof is in the people who've been through it with us already. National Tiles is rated Excellent (4.2 out of 5) on Google, based on over 3k reviews. Across those reviews, two themes come up consistently: staff who know their product, and genuine help making decisions that felt complicated at first.
The finished room does the talking. You just enjoy the questions. Turns out the hardest part is being modest about it.
This is what it looks like when it all comes together
Better value. Better experience. Better outcome.
It's the reason a business Frank Walker started over 45 years ago is still growing, and still the one your neighbours ask about afterwards.
The smartest renovation decision you'll make is the one that makes someone wonder what you did differently.
