Preparing & Laying the Shower Hob

When planning your shower area, it’s best to start with the waste or drain. There are a variety of grates available. Most houses have a middle waste already so this is what we will work with. To achieve a simple, professional finish, we recommend a square waste as it’s easier to cut your tiles to fit.

Preparation is easy. Check that your wall studs are solid, straight & plumb and have no major bows or dips. Then place cement sheeting, Villaboard or waterproof plaster board on the walls. You can pick this up from any National Tiles store.
