How to create the perfect feature wall

You’ve decided that you want to create a feature wall but don’t know where to start.

Feature walls are the perfect way to add personality and style to a space. They can instantly add a touch of colour or texture that can transform a space, but be mindful of the size of your room as sometimes less is more.

An instant way to add warmth to any space is with timber. Timber look tiles are ideal to use on walls as they create a focal point in the room and have the same colours and finishes of real wood but without the maintenance.

Feature tiles are an increasing trend in bathrooms. Whether it’s a large strip of geometric shaped tiles on a wall or smaller mosaics under a vanity, your bathroom can be transformed from drab to fab with a feature wall. Depending on the colour and finishes, tiles can help increase the size of a small room. High gloss large format tiles can make a room feel much larger than it actually is.

Don’t be afraid to use colour as your feature. Moodier tones such as dark blues and greys can be perfect for creating a slick kitchen splashback that is both stylish and functional. Where as bright primary colours can add an instant touch of character to a room.

Another way to create a unique point to a room is by experimenting with different lay patterns. A popular trend seen in bathrooms and kitchens is diagonal herringbone or vertical brick bond, however there are many different types.

Using different designs and lay patterns can enhance the look of a wall and truly customize a space. So remember to have fun and be brave, tile consultants will give you all the assistance you need in creating the perfect feature wall.
